Pastoral Role of Confessions
The confessions and catechisms have a pastoral role, guiding those who are weak in understanding to discover distorted interpretations of the Scriptures and to better grasp the true meaning of the Word of God. In providing helpful boundaries of legitimate interpretations, the confessional writings uphold the authority of Scripture rather than undermine it.
