Warfield and Westminster
The Westminster Confession of Faith has been accused of lacking pneumatology on the ground that it does not have a single chapter on the Holy Spirit. As Benjamin B. Warfield notes, however, "the sole reason why it does not give a chapter to this subject…is because it prefers to give nine chapters to it." That is to say, the Westminster divines set forth the entire structure of soteriology (chapters 10 through 18) in terms of the work of the Spirit applying Christ to the redeemed. Tuckney’s high view of the work of the Holy Spirit supports Warfield's observation.
