The Westminster Confession and the Trinity
The doctrine of the Trinity was too essential and comprehensive to be discussed in a single distinct chapter. Rather, the divines structured the confession as an exposition of the Trinity: it began with the Father’s works of eternal decree, creation, providence, and covenant; continued with the Son’s mediatorial work; and ended with the Spirit’s work of application of redemption. The Westminster Confession as a whole is trinitarian.
