Enlightenment, Scholasticism, and Modernity

The Enlightenment was impossible apart from the repudiation of scholasticism. But Francis Turretin's scholastic Reformed Calvinism was not undone by rationalism, tolerance, experimental scientism, cosmopolitan ecumenism. It was undone by a subtle yet dramatic paradigm shift - the emergence of modernity.
