Heart and Mind

One might wonder whether an “academic” exercise such as this can truly involve the kind of personal knowledge Christ has in mind in John 17:3.... The question may reflect both the undercurrent of anti-intellectualism in contemporary culture, which often detaches the heart from the mind, and also an inattentiveness to the real character of Christian theology as a profoundly spiritual, moral, and doxological undertaking.
