Conformed to Christ
Just as those who were baptized by John placed their whole lives under his baptism for repentance (and were summoned to life-long repentance), so Jesus was baptized with the Spirit and lived under his lordship. So also do those who in turn receive Christ’s baptism in order that they might be conformed to Christ.
