Organic Composition

The organic composition of the New Testament as a whole needs to be insisted upon over against a persistent tendency that has manifested itself in the history of interpretation, particularly in the historical-critical tradition stemming from the Enlightenment but even before then. This is the tendency to seize upon the teaching of Jesus and then contrast it with the teaching of the apostles and other New Testament writers in a way that depreciates the latter.
