An Umbrella Benefit

An umbrella benefit, adoption locates the manifestation of union in its proper personal—Christ-centered—orbit; in this way, manifestation of union preserves its filial integrity. Justification, sanctification, and other redemptive benefits do not manifest union independently or abstractly (cf. WLC 69); rather, they do so by the practice of filial grace in the rich fellowship of spiritual familial life (2 Cor. 13:14).
