Remonstrant Issues
These [Remonstrant] statements dealt with election, the extent of the atonement, the forgiveness acquired by Christ's death, the possibility of resisting the Holy Spirit in producing faith, and uncertainty concerning the perseverance of the saints. This list of issues indicates that the difference between the Reformed and the Remonstrants was wider than election itself. The real issue concerned the relationship between God and humans in general, as it was expressed in the confession and the catechism.
