French and Scottish Reformation

Knox himself was fluent in French, and preached in the Reformed churches in France. Also, the national church organization in France, in contrast to the city organization of Geneva, was more amenable to the Scottish situation. Finally, there is the circumstantial argument that the Scots Confession and discipline bears close affinity to that of the French Huguenots. In its own way, the royal connection between Scotland and France is important for the Scottish Reformation.
