Beza at La Rochelle

The election of Beza as moderator of the seventh national synod at La Rochelle in 1571 supplies ample proof of his stature among the Reformed churches in France. This gathering, arguably the most important Reformed synod in the sixteenth century, strengthened the church’s oversight of doctrine and produced definitive editions of the French Confession of Faith and the Discipline ecclésiastique.
