Analogia Fidei Over Time
Reformed Protestants interpreted Scripture in terms of the analogy of faith (analogia fidei). The analogy of faith referred to the fact that the Bible must be interpreted in terms of an already-established body of doctrine. Initially this referred to the Apostles’ Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, and the Decalogue (as it had in the Middle Ages), but it eventually included the later catechisms and confessions of the church.
