Flawed Picture

...leaping from Calvin's Institutes of 1559, to Beza's 1555 Tabula, to the Canons of the Synod of Dort (1618-1619), and thence to Francis Turretin's Institutio theologiae elencticae (1679-1685), merely for the sake of documenting the scholastic elaboration of the Reformed doctrine of predestination, overlooks different historical contexts, different issues addressed, contrasting literary genres, and vast numbers of intervening events. The result is a simplistic and flawed picture of post-Reformation thought.
