Unwritten and Written Word

there is one authoritative Word that was unwritten (agraphon) and given in an “enunciative” form, as a “living voice,” to the patriarchs before Moses and which, after Moses, has been written for the edification of the church. This unwritten Word given directly to the church in the ages prior to Moses is, moreover, the subject of the written Word set down by Moses and the other ancient writers of the Scripture. The unwritten Word is not, therefore, a different divine truth from that presented in the written Word: verbum agraphon is prior to verbum engraphon
