Secular Principia

If reason is the principium cognoscendi of philosophy, then philosophy's boundaries are determined by reason, its authority lies in reason, and its rules and laws are the rules and laws of reason. Not only so, but it seems that the principium essendi (essential principle) has been made identical to the principium cognoscendi. This, it would seem, creates numerous problems.
