Analogia Scripturae
From the earliest days, Christians have insisted that Scripture should be compared with Scripture. Recourse to this ‘analogy of Scripture (analogia scripturae)’ can be found in the work of Irenaeus, Augustine and many others. This is what Luther had in mind when he insisted that ‘Scripture is its own interpreter’.
