Sui Generis
While the Bible remains a written text, a book of words open to investigation as a piece of literature or as a testimony to history, it will not fit into such categories neatly or without remainder. This text is sui generis; the attempt to read it ‘like any other book’ is, in the final analysis, to overlook its critical otherness.
