No Creed but the Bible?

The challenge for a “no creed but the Bible” pastor at this point is obvious. If you want to abolish the early church creeds because you regard them as some kind of man-made tradition that stands independent of Scripture or that trumps Scripture’s teaching, you are going to need to replace them with something. Further, you are going to need to replace them with something straightaway. The church cannot exist for even the time it takes to say the Nicene Creed without an understanding of who Christ is and, by implication, who God is.
