Proper Object of Faith
The proper object of faith, as it is the faith of a sinner, is Christ the Mediator (Acts 10:43; John 1:11–12; 2:23; Acts 4:12; 1 Tim. 2:5; etc.), neither as God only, nor as man only, but as the God-man, distinguished by his mediatorial work (1 Tim. 2:5); and not according to this or that function of his office separately—either as Prophet, Priest, or King only—but as it embraces the threefold office in its entirety.
