The Dutch-French Relationship

Their close relationship with the Dutch churches is highlighted in the fact that the Synod of Dort decreed to translate its Latin acts into Dutch and French (but not English). The French churches defended their adoption of the canons before the king in 1623. Their actions were in line with the decision of the Synod of Figeac 1579 to approve the Confession of Faith of the Dutch churches and subscribe to it if necessary, which the Synod of Vitré (I) 1583 did.
